32.0 Meteorology 1/6: Foundations

We discuss atmospheric composition, the layers of the atmosphere, and basic weather theory:

  1. Unequal heating of the Earth’s surface leads to different densities of air.
  2. Different temperatures and densities lead to rising and sinking air, or high and low pressure areas.
  3. The highs and lows lead to convection.
  4. Convection is influenced by the Coriolis Force.
  5. The airflows are further influenced by friction.
